Limestone 1.5″ Minus

Limestone 1.5″ Minus refers to a specific size and type of crushed limestone. The name originates from the size of the individual pieces, which are all 1.5 inches in diameter or smaller. This grading includes everything from the maximum size to the fines, which are tiny fragments and dust.

One of the main benefits of using 1.5″ Minus limestone is its excellent compaction properties. When you apply pressure to this material, the larger stones interlock with smaller fragments and dust, creating a tightly packed, stable surface resistant to shifting or settling. Additionally, limestone 1.5″ Minus offers excellent drainage properties. While it compacts well, it still allows for the movement of water, preventing pooling and standing water.

You can find 1.5″ Minus as a base material for driveways, walkways, and patios. It’s also frequently used as a sub-base for road construction under asphalt or concrete paving. It can also be used as backfill material.
